Headphones
When I first started my remote working career I had the most budget headphones known to mankind, and it honestly made my daily working life hell. Not only did my ears ache from the lack of padding, but the sound quality was abysmal!
I searched far and wide for the most comfortable headphones on the market, and by far the best company was Bose all day long! For most remote workers comfort is an absolute necessity along side noise cancellation and a long battery life. Look no further as the Bose range offers everything you could possibly need and creating a product that has longevity is their forte! I have listed my personal favourite below:
Bose QuietComfort
- Legendary noise cancellation
- Modes for any musical moment
- High-fidelity audio
- All-day comfort
- Up to 24 hours of battery life¹
- Adjustable EQ
- Audio cable with in-line mic
- Customise with Bose App
Honestly speaking these were the best investments I made for my remote working lifestyle! Literally, like soft cushions greeting your ears every day! Also if your partner has a pair and you only share one Spotify account, you can both download the Bose application and it will allow you to sync to one account, happy listening!
Adjustable Laptop Stand

A decent, good quality laptop stand is something all remote workers need, posture is without a doubt one of the most important things to consider and it should not be overlooked. I personally work minimum 8 hours per day and my adjustable laptop stand helps me keep my posture in check and allows me to work comfortably from any solid surface. Let’s look at the best fixed stand for remote home workers and a great travelling option if you’re a digital nomad:
Moft Adhesive Laptop Stand
You know at Nomadicwives were all about sticking to a small budget! We also travel super light so it’s essential to carry a compact stand, and the Moft laptop stand has never let us down! It’s the worlds first invisible laptop stand and its made from sustainable vegan leather and a strong fibreglass material. It’s so discreet and easy to travel with, you barely even notice it’s there! Being self adhesive it almost becomes one with your laptop and you can adjust it up to, two elevation angles which optimise your sitting position. This nifty stand is a must have and we wouldn’t leave home without it!
Superjare Dual Monitor Stand Riser
Depending if your job requires a dual monitor setup or a single monitor setup, this particular stand has you covered. Not only is it great value for money, but you can adjust it to meet your working needs. The design itself has considered the importance of taking care of your posture, it allows you to lift the stand at eye level which subsequently corrects your posture and helps relieve any tension during prolonged working hours, I know how considerate! Priced at less than $40 USD this is ideal for remote workers on a budget.
Portable Wifi Box

A strong reliable internet connection is essential for any remote worker and it can be incredibly stressful when the wifi drops, we’ve been there before! Having your own personal hotspot device is without a doubt the best thing we have invested in so far, it has saved us so many times, when we’ve encountered power cuts or bad weather, and the wifi’s suddenly non existent. Below we will look at two super fast options that you can use whilst working remotely:
Solis
The world of hotspots have come a long way in the last few years and this has made personal hot spots super advanced and more reliable than ever. Solis is one of the leading brands on the market and we highly recommend it! No SIM card is even required, so that cuts out the stress of having to find a new network provider in every country you visit, it has its own range of network packages around the world. What’s even more impressive, is Solis now gives every user a lifetime data policy which basically means you get 1GB free every month for the lifetime of your hotspot, it has a global connection to over 135 countries! It also functions as a power bank, what a game changer!
Keepgo
As we’ve mentioned before, we’re always travelling on a tight budget and we spent a lot of time trying to find the most reliable option that wouldn’t cost us an arm and a leg to keep us online. Keepgo is one of the smallest portable Wifi hotspots on the market, it allows you to connect up to 15 devices! They have their own plans which you can purchase online or if you’re anything like us, you might prefer to input your own SIM card preloaded with data. We actually prefer to connect to the local network in the country we’re travelling in, and they usually provide a competitive package which works great for us.
Noise Cancelling Programe

If you’re concerned about external noise or you’re forced to work in an area that is very loud, then a noise cancelling program might just be for you. There are several companies offering different levels of noise cancellation and we will give you our best recommendation:
Krisp
The Krisp application is one of the leading noise suppression softwares on the market. It’s powered by AI, and It works by cancelling any outside noise in real time. It completely eliminates any unwanted background noise that may interfere with any calls or video calls you may have. It’s compatible with both Mac and Windows, you can try it out with a free trial.
Universal Adaptor

Travelling adaptors can be the bane of your life whilst travelling the world, and if you’re travelling more than one continent you’ll end up lugging around several different plug adaptors, which is incredibly inconvenient and quite frankly a pain in the arse! Let’s have a look at one the best products currently on the market:
Nomadplug
This is literally the last plug you will ever buy! This is Nomadplugs actual slogan and they’re not wrong! This particular plug will not only save you money but, it’s modular compact design will eliminate having to lug around numerous low quality adapters. It fits together in a really satisfying way, similar to Lego, it was built with minimising space in mind and it’s safe to say they nailed it. The plug allows you to configure it according to the country you’re visiting and it works in every country in the world. Say what!
Portable Laptop Monitor

Asus ProArt Display PA148CTV1
If your job requires you to use two screens, then this portable screen is an absolute life saver! Remote working doesn’t mean you have to live without your exact office set up, you can use this particular model to act as a second screen for all your working needs. It’s especially handy if you’re travelling as a digital nomad, as it weighs less than 0.6 pounds and the screen is a decent size, measuring at 14 inches, which is pretty nifty if you ask us. Pop this screen in your bag and be on your way!
Laptop Bag

Nomadic
If you’re looking for the perfect laptop travel bag, then look no further! This super slick design is the ultimate travel bag that every remote worker should have. It has so many practical storage compartments, such as specifically dedicated areas for your shoes, clothes, water bottle and of course your trusted laptop! What makes this bag extra special is that the designers have incorporated a laundry section to store any dirty clothes separately, it also transforms from backpack to duffle bag in a few seconds! With it being TSA ready, you don’t need to worry about your bag not meeting the dimensions for hand luggage when flying. Last but not least the bag is 40L and it has a special waterproof section to keep any important items safe, in case of any spills or rain, i know right, it ticks all the boxes, take my money already!
Laptop Power Bank

Having a backup power solution is an essential bit of kit to have on you, in case of those dreaded power cuts! It was only a few days ago that I was working from a remote village in Patagonia, that a huge storm occurred and knocked the power out for several hours, luckily from past experiences I had already invested in a backup solution that saved the day! I now wouldn’t leave home without it. Eliminate that dreaded power anxiety and carry this small but mighty power bank to keep you online!
Anker 737 Power Bank (PowerCore III Elite)
Choosing the best, most reliable power bank can be a bit of a minefield, with so many options to choose from.
